Is it true that hybrids consume more energy to make?
I have heard that although hybrids consume less gasoline, the do take considerably more energy to produce. If they take more energy to produce and that energy comes from coal, then that will also add to the total carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. A;so, what about he additional parts like the battery, which take a lot of energy to produce and they ar heavy, so they use more energy when they are shipped from the point of prodction to where they are embled in the car. Finally, what about he electric motor which is also heavy and are produced from relatively large amounts of copper, which is non renewable and uses a lot of energy to refine and ship to points of prodction. How come no one takes that into account when touting the benifits of hybrids? I think people are stll short sighted and ignorant when they look at our levels of carbondioxide emissions and our overall level of consumption.
