How long can you live after your appendix burst?

Hello, I'm writing a short 10 minute play for a summer course I'm taking, and I have this idea for it, but I need to know how long you can live after your appendix burst. A couple hours? 30 minutes? I had appendicitis, but I was able to sleep before my surgery, so it wasn't that bad, so I wouldn't know. Help please, ASAP!
