Knee surgery...why is my knee the skin num?

just had knee surgery 2 weeks ago, went to doc today and told him my knee was num all around my knee, the doc said he didnt no why it was like this, nor do i. what would couse this, and did the doc hit a nearve maybe? i had a torn miniscus, if you no why is this r had this problem please write back tks,,
