Careers and Schools in the Science Field?

I want to major in some sort of science, like biology, zoology, animal behavior, environmental, etc. What are some schools (not Ivy League) in the New England area that would offer that? Also, what jobs could I get that don't require me to live far away (i live in CT) to have?
